Community Mapping
Community mapping is about identifying local assets in a community. Assets may be
services, open spaces, community centres, shops, parks, facilities or entertainment
venues amongst others. Mapping a community like this helps to identify its strengths
and weaknesses, where there are opportunities for development and what aspects may
impinge on the wellbeing of the residents in the future. Miller Research has conducted
many community mapping exercises over the past few years. We aim to display the
information in innovative ways that allow understanding of the local situation and
help to facilitate discussion, and provide the basis for community planning. We
aim to use the latest technologies and are currently using interactive Google maps
alongside GIS to gather and display information in informative and user-friendly
ways.
