Rural Development
As a rurally based business, Miller Research understands the challenges and opportunities
that face rural communities in retaining services, enabling diversification, maximising
its use of its assets and stimulating local economic development. Our rural work
has supported rural organisations, partnerships and local authorities in developing
local strategies and business plans for the European Commission’s Rural Development
Plan for Wales for a number of rural partnerships including Bridgend County Borough
Council and Monmouthshire County Council.
We have also undertaken evaluations of
rural programmes including the All Wales Rural Programmes for Welsh Assembly Government,
Article 33 Programme, the Rural Community Action Programme as well as individual
business plans for respective rural partnerships. Our project development work has
looked at the role of produce within rural communities, rural transport scheme,
the re-use of redundant farm buildings, activity tourism and provision of smart
basic services.
Our work has led to over £10 million of rural monies secured across a diverse range
of rural communities mainly across Wales with further business plans and funding
applications being developed through future funding rounds.
