Miller Research conducted an evaluation of the Thriving High Street Campaign, a government funded campaign commissioned by the National Skills Academy for Retail. The campaign aims to reinvigorate the high street by creating customer focused, proactive, sustainable businesses through raising the skill and qualification levels of business owners and employees, encouraging young people to choose retail as a career and to create sustainable jobs in retail in socially deprived areas. Research took the form of interviews with those involved at various levels in managing and delivering the programme. It was found that the campaign was a useful pilot and successful in positively changing the behaviour of business owners and staff which resulted in rapid improvements and potential long term changes.
