In July 2020, Miller Research was commissioned to carry out the formative inception and final evaluations of the IROHMS Operation. IROHMS is a multidisciplinary technology centre located at Cardiff University, which combines the expertise of three Schools at the University: School of Engineering, School of Computer Science and Informatics, and School of Psychology. The Centre will target new funding opportunities emerging in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Human-Machine Systems (HMS).

The circa £4.5m Operation was part-funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Welsh European Funding Office (WEFO) and was delivered under ERDF Priority Axis 1: Research and Innovation, Specific Objective 1.1 of the ERDF East Wales Operational Programme 2014-2020.

The final evaluation undertaken in Autumn 2022 comprised; a desk based review of IROHMS documentation and monitoring and evaluation processes, interviews with key stakeholders, subsequent analysis of findings and an impact / counterfactual appraisal.
