TaskEvaluation

Led by Wrexham Glyndwr University, the Horticulture Wales project aims to identify and develop appropriate clusters of horticulture businesses across Wales. The focus of the project is to support growers and producers to reduce waste and improve shelf life, sustainability, and profit. This is delivered through the promotion of collaborative working between local food producers, growers, and horticulturists across Wales.

Miller Research carried out the baseline and mid-term evaluation, which involved reviewing the project’s plans and monitoring arrangements, measuring progress to date, and developing a logic model in conjunction with the Horticulture Wales delivery team.

The final evaluation concluded in July 2021 and involved significant engagement with a wide range of horticultural businesses and groups supported by the project. Steering group members were also interviewed to assess the effectiveness of the delivery, and identify best practices and lessons learnt to inform future delivery. An online survey was also used to collect further data from a larger number of enterprises. Our engagement work allowed us to assess the benefits of Horticulture Wales through analysing the outcomes and impacts of the project.
